What an honor to meet you and get to start this journey with you and your child! Bringing a child to therapy can be a very vulnerable and courageous step, and it truly shows your love and dedication to their wellbeing. I agree with the saying, it takes a village to raise a child as it allows for the support of various nurturing influences. As a parent myself, I understand how emotionally layered the caregiver-child relationship can be, often shaped by our own experiences growing up. It’s admirable when a caregiver recognizes the value of counseling support, whether sought for moments of challenge or as a way to foster growth and connection.
I approach counseling with a strong belief in each person’s innate capacity to heal through connection, awareness, and compassion. I’m continually moved by how little human beings are naturally driven to express what needs attention and healing through play. I hold reverence for wherever a child is at in any given moment, and am honored to be trusted as they explore what previously may have been scary or confusing for them. Through the power of unconditional positive regard, bringing awareness to expressions and experiences and the often repetitive playing out of certain themes which change and shift to show growth, children come to self actualize and believe in their own agency.
Much of my experience is with children who have neurodivergence including ADHD, autism, developmental differences and/or emotional, social and behavioral concerns, ages 3 to 12. I greatly value a systems approach, acknowledging the influence of moment-to-moment interactions to society at large. That being said, much can be accomplished when even just one family member heals. I also deeply value diversity and humbly acknowledge and respect that we are each unique individuals with different privileges and perspectives. I want to create openness with families to express related topics as they emerge.
Thank you for taking this step and joining me in a new beginning! I am so excited to see where this goes!
