Mental Health Therapist Intern | (she/her)

Supervised by Marykate Tihinen, MA, LMHC (425.224.5439 | marykate@unifiedbh.org)

Welcome! I am a mental health counselor intern working with adults, adolescents (aged 10+), and families offering individual counseling, family counseling, and parent coaching. Over the last six years, I have worked as a public elementary school teacher but have left teaching to pursue my passion for social emotional learning and mental health. I take a person-centered approach to counseling and work collaboratively to help you meet your goals and move toward wellness. Using an integrative approach to fit each unique client, I draw upon evidence-based practices including Psychodynamic Therapy, Marriage and Family Systems, Multicultural Counseling, Mindfulness Practices, and Developmental Theories. Using a relational lens, I take interest in the client’s interpersonal relationships and the larger systems that impact them.

Listening closely to the body and the mind, I work to support clients in developing awareness and self-discovery so that they can live more fully and freely. Research shows that the most significant agent of change in therapy is an authentic relationship between the client and counselor. I strive to show up genuinely, attune to each client, and build deep and meaningful relationships where each client feels seen in their experience. I embrace opportunities to work with diverse populations and all are safe and welcome here. I look forward to the prospect of partnering with you and seeing if we are a good fit!
